Frequently Asked Questions

Q & A
I thought it may be good to post some of the most frequently asked questions we get about our services.

Q.   How long have you been in the business?
A.   After graduating from in TSTC, Waco, we officially began providing portrait photography as well as weddings.  At that time I still worked full time and shot mostly on the weekends. A few short years later we had built up enough clientele to break off and work as a full time photographer.

Q.  Do you have a studio?
A.   Yes, our studio is located at 102 Palo Pinto St., Suite C.

Q.  Do you only work by appointment and what are your hours of operation?
A.   Yes we work by appointment only and we have no specific hours of operation   Even though we have the studio on the square, we are only there for pre-scheduled appointments. At this time it's more convenient to office at home. Call us anytime!

Q.  Many times you say "we" when talking about your business. Does Felts Photography have more than one photographer?
A.   This is a great question.  We are a one photographer operation, however my wife Cari is a huge part of our business. What many people don't realize is that there is an entirely other end to having a successful photography business, beside just taking pictures.   You must be able to provide great customer service to your clients by being available to answer any questions when they ask.  The work involves sorting orders and verifying that we receive the correct numbers and size photos.  Not to mention the quality control of prints is very important. And lastly the financial end of any business is essential.  Without a doubt, I couldn't do it if I didn't have Cari as my right hand.

Q.   Do you photograph pets?
A.   Most definitely I can!  We do limit any pet photo sessions to on location only.

Q.  What does your "dry-mounted" 11x14 mean?
A.   Any prints larger than 8x10 we have dry-mounted (glued) to a 1/4 inch art board. This prevents the photo from bending and simply preserves it.

Q.   What's your favorite thing to photograph?
A.   Well, I would probably say senior sessions then couples are a close second. I really enjoy working one on one with clients.

Q.   Do you have children?
A.   Yes, we have a 13 & 8 year old.  I do a lot of children photography and I know I wouldn't have as much patience if I didn't have my own children.  So many time parents are so apologetic about their hyper or uncooperative children.  Believe me I totally understand and please DO NOT apologize about that.

Q.   Do you give a CD with images I can print on my own.
A.  We do offer a disk archive cd with all your images from your session. This disk is useful with those without good fast internet service.  It's also good to be able to look back at every photo, even the ones you perhaps didn't purchase for the wall.  The archive disk will not allow you to print, email or process images at the local photo labs.

We do not currently offer a cd of high resolution images for a couple of reasons. You may notice that our sitting fee & enlargement prices are well below the average cost of most individual photographers. We have such reasonable prices that our hope is that you will like your images enough to purchase enlargements. All of the images from your session are edited & ready to order via our online ordering system. We take pride in the quality we present to our customers. If we gave a disk, customers would be forced to make homemade copies or less than perfect reprints from the local photo lab. The photos you give or hang on the wall represent our business and we want to make sure they are the best quality possible.

I see a lot of the new photographers in the area are simply just giving a disk away without offering enlargements/copies for their customers. The processing aspect of the business is very time consuming & perhaps some businesses don't have the time or maybe the resources to get quality prints in the customers hands.    Click Here to see a full list of print sizes & gift products we are offering. If you don't see something on the list you are interested in, let me know & we'll find it for you.

Brandi & James

Meet Brandi and James. I had the honor of recently shooting engagement photos for this amazing couple. No only are they good friends of mine, but Brandi happens to be one of my very first subjects to ever photograph some 15+ years ago. I'd say we've come a long way since those early days of setting up a mock studio in her parent's living room and the hours I spent using Brandi and her family as test subjects. Thanks guys for allowing me to document your happily ever after....

The Edits

From time to time I'll give you a look at different edits that can be applied to one photo to dress it up a bit. Here's an example of how we used different filtering on one image to give it a totally different look.
