The Edits #47

From time to time I'll give you a look at different edits that can be applied to one photo to dress it up a bit. Here's an example of  using one unfiltered photo & the various filters we can apply to it.
This particular customer wanted a large print made but wanted to first see some different treatments on it first.  This is what we came up with.

Normal un-filtered original.

Color image with textured overlay around the edges.

Same overlay but removed the saturation from the entire photo. 

Sepia tone

Black & White

Color with darker edges. Overall image has more contrast as well.

This is just an example of some of the treatments we can apply to an average looking photo. It's interesting that some customers are very partial to the normal un-treated photos & others may order all photos with different effects applied.

This session took place after Christmas so mom was really interested in sending out New Year cards using some of the photos. Using the Urban 1 & 2 locations shown on the site, we did two different styles.  The idea was to have the front of the card with their normal attire & the back to have a completly different feel/theme. Great idea. Right off the heel of Ranger mania, they decided to all wear jerseys of their favorite team! We chose the more contemporary location for that. Here's a few images we captured that day.

You Might Be a Redneck If...

When Jeff Foxworthy coined the term "you might be a redneck if"  he had the world laughing. I would say this southern fried style of comedy had a bit more meaning to us who actually grew up in the south & could relate more with his jokes.  Admittedly I could identify all to well with a few of his redneck digs.  I came across a few examples that went great with this saying....enjoy

What Are The Odds?

I recently experienced a first. I've heard of sisters being pregnant at the same time, but never with a due date just a day apart. What are the odds? Luckily they were both past clients & wanted to have their maternity session done by us. Most of the session we did separately, but because they were due around the same time wanted a few shots taken together. Here's a few.

I did get word the sisters did deliver their babies. One went into labor on a Friday & the other by c section the following Monday.  I'm guessing there will be some big combined birthday bashes in the future.

Rodeo Entertainers

If you're from around here you may have heard of rodeo entertainer Tommy Lucia & Whiplash. I first witnessed this act in the early 80's when I was in about the 3rd grade. Since Mr. Lucia's children attended Millsap school, he brought the show to our bulldog stadium that year.  A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to do a few promo shots of the trio that was used in various publications. 

About Tommy:
 For four decades, Tommy Lucia has been entertaining audience around the world.  He is recognized as both a premier entertainer and one of Americas’ leading animal handlers.  He has received many honors over the years, including “Entertainer of the Year” at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas for three years running---2003, 2004 and 2005.
About Whiplash:

As I mentioned in my previous blog, Saturday we attended the final night of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Around the mid point of the rodeo the announcer introduced the trick roper. It was loud & all I heard was Millsap & Lucia.  I immediately grabbed my camera & took several shots. The arena was dark except for florescent lights that lit up the trickster, hence the funky colored appearance in the pics.  He was covered in neon colored paint with colored ropes to add to the effect. I really didn't think there would be many that would turn out in such dim lighting, but I was surprised when I reviewed them later that night. So as soon as I got home I googled Anthony Lucia & sure enough he was the youngest son of Tommy.  Needless to say this guy does an unbelievable job at trick roping.  Below are some of my better images from that night.
