Week 6

It was a close call for fellow Millsap graduate Casey James this week on AI when he was in the bottom three. James has always been considered a front runner in this years competition so maybe everyone assumed he was safe & he didn't need excessive voting. Just two weeks ago Mike had the lowest number of votes but was spared by the judges save. Now his loyal fans kicked it into high gear & he hasn't even been in the bottom 3 again. Season 3 winner Fantasia was also in the bottom 3 then came back, so this really doesn't mean much. I guess it's time all us locals (who care) to vote & keep Casey in the game. Help put Cool on the map!

In a way I kinda see the judges points that he could change it up, but there's no doubt he is a seasoned performer & can rock. Any other artist gets a year or more to come up with different sounds & styles for their record. In one weeks time, these young people are expected to come up with different sounds & performances. Doesn't seem fair to be so harsh about sounding the same from the previous week.

From what I've heard, Casey has been very sick this week, & many week throughout his stay in Hollywood. Despite this fact it seems to me that he has done a great job of hiding it & still giving the audience a great performance. Even if Casey isn't pop enough for AI fans to make him the winner, this platform is a great way for him to expose his talent to major record executives that will take notice & make great offers. Good examples are Chris Daughtry & Jennifer Hudson who both fell short of winning the top spot but have done well in the business. The more weeks he stays in the competition the more in demand he will be which means better offers.

Cousins

This group of cousins chose the urban 1 location for most of their session & we finished up in the studio for a more formal setting. My favorites are always the outside shots so I thought I would share them.

At the very beginning of my photography career (around 1997) I would just have to set up my backgrounds & lights in customers homes or in my parents living room. The oldest girl (Natalie) was just a baby when I photographed her with another set of cousins. I really think that it may have been my first real paying job. Not saying it was very good, it was good practice & their photo helped build my portfolio back then.

Anson

Anson's two year session was taken at Holland Lake Park. This little guy was full of smiles & was easy to work with, as usual. In a few months Anson will welcome his little brother so we took the opportunity to include mom & dad for their last family of three photo.

Kelly & Ryan

On March 27th. Kelly & Ryan married high above the Fort Worth streets at the City Club. After the ceremony we stepped out onto the balcony for a few shots. Aside from the extreme wind, the multi colored sky & buildings made a great backdrop for the couple. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Keeton!

Dee

Dee called me some time ago to help her out with her bridals. Since her wedding was to take place in New Orleans she needed to have her bridals done locally. For this session Dee added a touch of New Orleans flavor & brought props! Nice Touch...

Flash or no flash?
I took these two images using two techniques. Natural & with flash. The natural image is much more dramatic & has depth, but sometimes parents like to be able to see the brides face better.

Umbrella from behind is one of my favorites.

After we completed most of the session at Chandor Gardens, we finished up a few blocks away at Brownstone Wedding Chapel. Across the street is another old church that made a great backdrop.

Dee brought so much personality to her shoot.

Dee was a beautiful subject & easy to work with. After our shoot a few weeks back I told her I couldn't wait until her wedding so I would show 'em off. Now I can! Congratulations to Dee & Cash on their destination wedding in Nawlins...
