Kelly & Ryan

We shot these engagement photos in the Fall at Chandor Gardens. Kelly & Ryan will tie-the-knot a week from Saturday at the City Club in Fort Worth. Kelly had originally wanted to also do her bridals in the garden too but cool & rainy weather forced us to change plans. We ended up shooting all the bridals at the City Club Downtown. We both were initially disappointed about the location change but we ended up getting some very unique angles that gloomy afternoon & I'm anxious to post the bridals after the wedding.

Facebook Is 5 Years Old

It was 5 years ago that Mark Zuckerberg founded Thefacebook.com along with fellow Harvard classmates Chris Hughes, Dustin Moskovitz, and Eduardo Saverin. 1,800 days and 150,000,000 users later, Facebook has become one of the most heavily used and trusted websites in the world.

Facebook’s accomplishments to date are truly impressive. Not only has the company built a social utility accepted across global cultures, but it has also established unprecedented trust with users who are comfortable sharing more and more personal information every day.

In fact, Facebook also released updated stats on information shared by Facebook users today:

  • 15 million users update their statuses at least once each day
  • 850 million photos are uploaded to the site each month
  • 24 million pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photos, etc.) are shared each month
  • 3.5 million users become fans of Pages each day
  • The average user has 120 Facebook friends
It was 1 year ago this week that I opened my own facebook account. I first started with my personal page with my family & old schoolmates. It was great to be able to re-connect with people I haven't heard from or seen in 10 years. In the beginning it felt wrong to spend hours looking into the personal lives/photos/info of everyone you know. It wasn't long before I too was uploading every photo I had from our family vacation & telling all my business.
Then I opened a second page inviting not only friend & family but my business contacts too. In addition to my main site www.FeltsPhotography.com and this blog, I could use the photo albums in Facebook to use as additional advertising. I really don't do many status updates, but mostly post links letting everyone know when I've updated the blog. Facebook & the blog have proved to be a great tool for getting the word out to our customers about the latest services we provide. I also enjoy posting unralated random things I happen to run across...things that make me laugh or just make me think.

Jared & Lauren

I met Jared in 2005 while I was still managing the photo department at CVS pharmacy. He would regularly come in to have enlargements made of some of his awesome still life photography. After swapping stories about the photo biz Jared expressed an interest in getting in to portrait & wedding photography. Shortly after that he would from time to time help me out with my wedding jobs as my second shooter. Specializing in mostly the journalistic style, I would count on him to capture those different angles & focus on detail shots. Jared has had many photos published in our local papers as well as the recently closed Parker County Today magazine. You can also take a look at his site at www.JaredLindsay.com
A couple of years ago after he became engaged, Jared asked me to do his engagement & wedding photography for him & his fiance Lauren.
Here are just a few of the images I recently came across & thought I would post.

Book Your Senior Session

Senior session are beginning to be in full swing. It usually happens after the weather begins to warm up a little that moms will start calling to schedule. We are now booking into April so call while there are still times available.

I photographed this Poolville grad. last week in the urban 1 & urban 2 locations that I have on the site. We had scheduled the Saturday morning session many weeks prior not knowing what our unpredictable Texas weather would have in store. Luckily the contritions were just right with a slight breeze that added to these shots as if we had a wind machine to give that effect. Courtney was an easy shoot falling right into place with the posing. Many times I really have to work hard to make it look natural, but she made my job easy. Maybe the fact that mom wasn't hovering over both of us making sure we were doing it right made us both more relaxed too. No, I don't have a problem with moms being there & seldom have issues with them being overbearing. (I do remember them though)
Here are a few images from our shoot.

What's Wrong With This Picture?

So yesterday I was standing in line to pay for my gas & I overheard something interesting. Just as clerk was instructed, she asked the man in front of me if he would like to donate $1 to Jerry's Kids. He quickly replied "pssstt...heck they can donate money to me, I'm broke"! Then he pays for his $5 pack of cigarettes & walks out. Is something wrong with this picture? The clerk & I just looked at each other in disbelief as I say under my breath "you sure can buy those cigarettes though".
Just had to vent-

Week 1

On Tuesday night local Idol favorite Casey James will take the stage along with the other 11 top vote getters. This week the real competition gets in full swing as both boys & girls compete together for the first time live.

The internet was a buzz a couple of days ago when it was reported the Casey was spotted in a doctors office & later confirmed by family that he in fact was sick with the flu. Prayers & well wishes flooded the family & friends Facebook pages for a fast recovery for his Tuesday night performance. I remember in seasons past when a flu bug got several contestants & it had everyone wearing surgical masks. I'm sure the others are keeping their distance from Casey this week. The word is that he is now feeling better & will be good by tomorrow.

I guess you've arrived when major national "trash" magazine like Star & The Enquirer find you interesting enough to put on the cover. Shockingly enough the National Enquirer did an honest interview with Casey ex-wife who painted him in a good light. I'm sure they intended on digging up "grit" on the AI finalist to exploit his character but probably ended up giving the girls more reason to vote for him. Many ex-spouses would jump at the chance to trash you & be able to dish details about how they were wronged during the relationship. It seem they two are still on good terms & basically says he chose his career over his marriage. It seems that choice paid off as all us small town Millsap folk are seeing Casey go from virtually unknown to a celebrity in a matter of weeks. A goal James has been driving toward for over 10 years. (to be a famous blues musician) Each of these 12 contestants must be on cloud 9 who have now been busy filming Ford commercials, doing Rolling Stone interviews, photo shoots as well as TV cameras glued on them. I certainly hope the show has PR reps. guiding these young people on how to deal with their new found stardom. What to say what not to say.

I still think we will see Casey pickin' his way to the end along with fellow female favorite Crystal Bowersox. Remember to tune in Tuesday & vote for Casey!
(the guy my 4 year old wants to marry) uggh....

Funny Name Calling Commercial

Dodo Head Cootie Queen...
This is one of funniest commercials, especially if you have kids that thrive on name calling. It's one you have see a few times...

Local Business Owners

I received an email with this message attached. Be careful if you own a local business & are approached to purchase advertising.

The Athletic Office has received several calls during the last few days from local businesses being approached by advertising sales representatives. They are being contacted by both phone and in person to purchase advertising. Businesses are being told that their money is going towards advertising on such things as T-Shirt throw outs, Concession Cups, Poster Ad’s, Frisbee’s etc…. with a portion of the money going to the Athletic Department. I have been told that several solicitors have actually used my name as a contact. The Weatherford High School Athletic Department has a contract with one company to sell Poster Advertising. The name of that company is All Sports Medias Services Inc. Chris Warford is the owner of the company and the only person who will solicit your support in this project. Any other company selling any other product is not approved by the Athletic Department and is not giving Dollars back to support the WISD Student Athletes that we all care so deeply about. Please feel free to contact the WISD Athletic Office at the locations listed below with any questions you may have.

The Athletic Department, Kangaroo Coaching Staff and the Student / Athletes we serve appreciate the support the business community provides us. Much of what we do would not be possible without your support.

From Fall to Winter

Holland Lake Park re-opened after it's year & a half long renovations & I was back there shooting once again. This particular park is great for photos during the Summer & Fall with it's wooded scenic paths & rustic cabins. This session was for Hailey & Eric who hired us two years after I photographed his brothers wedding.

The couples wedding was in Azle at the A&M Gardens. The ceremony was to take place in their beautiful gardens on Feb 13th. If you remember, this was 2 days after one of the biggest snow events our area has ever seen. It ended up being a nice sunny day however the damp snow covered ground forced the nuptials to take place in A&M's equally nice reception area. The couple did agree that they would brave the cool temps & we ventured into the garden to take all of the pre & post wedding photos.

I was glad we were able to use the snow to our advantage & I think it made for a truly unique backdrop.
