Don't Clutter It Up-
Think about the surroundings around your subjects. This is something you might not consider while snapping, until you see the product. You may have taken the best picture of your kiddo & then later all you see is the distracting items rather than the intended subject. This not only applies for what's directly in arms reach of the subject, but also in the background. Keep the background simple or even solid is always good. There have been many times when I had the perfect patch of grass but the background wasn't flattering. Simple solution was to shoot from a high angle so all I could see was the green grass.
